What can YOU do?

Become a Tutor!

  • "Tutoring may be one of the most rewarding volunteer jobs. Every session brings smiles, appreciation, giggles about what's misunderstood or mastered as well as occasional frustration about slower-than-hoped-for progress...They often comment that this is the first time they have really enjoyed 'school'. That's hard to beat!"
"Observing student's progress and being proud to be one of the primary people who is helping the student gain new skills."  -- What one volunteer enjoys about tutoring.

The Literacy Council depends on  community members who are willing to donate their time to serve as volunteer tutors.  The Tutors will be paired and interact one-on-one with students who may need help with reading, writing, math, or learning to speak English.

Anyone who reads can tutor. We offer  training and support.  And you will experience the greatest satisfaction of all:  the satisfaction of helping people discover whole new lives.

We have students in all corners of Mercer County who need your help.  Please consider one-on-one tutoring with the Literacy Council.

Volunteering is easy. Click here for a Volunteer Survey Form that you can mail, email, fax, or drop-off.
