Many adults in Pennsylvania lack the basic skills they need to succeed in an increasingly complex world. Adult Basic Education helps open doors for self-sufficiency and stronger families. A well-educated work force is key to our area's economy and builds strong communities.
The Literacy Council offers Adult Basic Education classes to help Mercer County's residents learn life-long skills that will help them achieve the American Dream. Our classes not only emphasize basic math, reading, and language skills, but also teach how these skills relate to Mercer County's high priority jobs.

After meeting with an instructor, an individual education plan will be developed that may include online instruction, take home instruction packets, DVD instruction, teleconferencing, or a combination of these.
One-on-One Tutoring
Even if you have graduated from high school or passed the GED exam, a one-on-one tutor can help you acquire the skills you need to compete in today's tough job market.
You may have forgotten basic math skills or be out of practice with high level reading and /or writing skills. A job promotion or trying to improve your education may call for a refresher course.
